I wonder if I don't have my settings correct? tonight I manually went to Windows Update and there was a critical update available called "Update for Windows Vista Beta 2 and Windows Codename Longhorn Server Beta 2 (KB920698)". I am worried that my updater isn't working.
Where can I check to see if the Updater is working automatically?
When I turned on the PC tonight, there WAS a yellow shield on the taskbar along with a red shield that showed that my security was not secure. I double clicked the red sheild and by then the security was back 'on' so I was no longer in trouble. But then the yellow shield and the red shield were both gone. I figured something installed and I was good to go.
Now I'm worried that my 'security' is such that even windows updates cannot install themselves due to tight security although I do try to make sure I agree to 'known good updates'. I didn't get any warning windows however, that I needed to click Yes for permission.
How can I tell my Updater is working and that security isn't interferring??
TIA for your help...........katy

I have the exact same problem. Ive tried turning all the security features of and nothing sems to help. The Update stops on Downloading so it would apear that there is a problem on Microsofts servers.

Is the number correct as you posted?
I searched the Microsoft site and I get "Sorry, we couldn't find any pages containing KB920698" for that KB.
I also tried without the"KB" and I got "Sorry, we couldn't find any pages containing 920698" for that, too.

It´s correct. You have to go to the downlads section. But the problem didn´t go away. I got the patch dowloaded, but once i ran it, it gave me an error "0x8e5e0226". So there doesn´t seem to be an fix to this yet.
